Grade 4 Unit 4 PBL: Catering Company
Congratulations! You have always had a passion for cooking, so you and your friends just started up your own catering company! It is now your job to cook delicious meals for families, businesses, and parties. People are raving about how much they love your food, but starting a business is tough and you need more customers. How will your company advertise your services to the public?
Before You Begin
1. Choose Groups / Seven Habits:
Carefully choose your group to work with. All groups must have 2 or 3 students. Before you begin the project, discuss the Seven Habits. How will you use these habits to work together? At the end of this project, you will complete an individual Leadership Self-Assessment about your contributions to the group.
2. Create Shared Folder:
Create a folder that has each student's name in your group and "Unit 4 PBL" in the title. Share this folder with your group and with Ms. Kerley. All documents for this project should be saved in this folder.

After completing all project requirements, brainstorm what more you can do to make your catering company successful. Here are some ideas:

- Brochure (paper or google docs)
- Commercial that advertises your services
Your advertisement must include the following:
- Company name, logo, and slogan
- Recipes for 1, 2, and 5 batches.
- Serving size and price for 1, 2, and 5 batches.
- An explanation that explains how your group multiplied and simplified fractions
- A descriptive paragraph that describes your signature dish in detail and makes customers want to buy your product!
6. WOW Factor:
After completing all project requirements, brainstorm what more you can do to make your catering company successful. Here are some ideas:
- Create a cooking tutorial (video) at home that shows how to cook your signature dish.
- Cook your signature dish at home and bring it to school for teachers. Be ready to show and explain the math you used to teachers you deliver the food to.
- Create a tutorial or lesson about multiplying fractions for other students to learn from.
- Come up with your own idea!

Show how many points you deserve for each category, then calculate the grade you think you deserve. (The teacher will grade your website separately, but will look at what you wrote for input.
